EMD JT46CW. Do you know ?

Hello all ;

Here's a little video depicting this particular EMD model, wich is built for the european market (actually it's a cooperation effort between Vossloh and EMD, altough some years ago I saw it in EMDs web site as being part of its catalog)

And here's more info about these engines (supposedly MBTA got interested in it, but due to restricitions related with the 'buy american Act' the order did note materialise) :

I always find European horns to be a little funny. Its always interesting to see what's in use across the pond every now and then. That crossing bell would take some getting use to as well.

I doubt that the MBTA was all that interested since the JT46CW is designed for European clearances and the machinery is similar to an SD60.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

I also thought that, due to the fact taht such engines are built to european specs and there are contemporary designs in the american market readily available, such as MP36CHs. Since it's an 'wiki' info, It might not be very exact
