What is the tractive effort of the DDA40X?
136,000 lbs at start and 19,800 lbs at 90 mph.

They were usually (always?) geared 59:18, so their continuous TE rating wasn't impressive. Despite the high gearing, 19800 lb at 90 mph is 4750 horsepower. Conceivably that's at the drawbar, but more likely it's at the rail-- the transmission couldn't handle full horsepower at 90 mph.
(The figures are quoted from the table in Cockle's Centennials in Action; they show more power at 60 mph than at 30 or 40 mph, so seems a safe bet they're supposed to be TE at the rail, not at the drawbar. The 136000 lb at starting is just 25% of weight on drivers, as usual.)
