While traveling on Amtrak a few days ago, I spotted an unusual (at least to me) locomotive paint scheme of pink and gray. I THINK we were near Erie, PA at the time, but I'm not sure. Can anyone ID who these belong to? Is it their usual paint job or was it from something special, like a celebration or event? Thanks much, in advance.
Note: It was NOT UP's 'Pink Ribbon' loco; the ones I saw were just Pepto-Bismol pink and med. gray. It was in the region of Erie, PA , if not right near there. I saw at least 3-4 of them like this. I couldn't catch any of the markings.

Sadly, I was returning from a trip, during which my camera smashed into pieces.
Could it have been a FERROMEX engine they are light red and a silvery grey paint?

I'm not sure if they are it or not. It doesn't seem quite right but certainly possible. It seems like I would have noticed those big letters as a marking but honestly, I was so caught up with the unusual paint job/colors, almost anything is possible.Does anyone know if they would all appear as in the picture, with those large, clear letters, or do they sometimes have perhaps smaller letters in a different location, etc?
Also, I'm not familiar with them. Do they run in that area, must be. Are they their own company or part of another, or...? I'm thinking that is their usual paint scheme, though right?

Most Ferromex power that turns up in the United States is various late model GE's and I haven't noticed any variations in the painting or lettering.
Ferromex is a Mexican carrier that came into existence when the Mexican railroad system was privatized in the late 1990's. I believe that UP has a minority interest in Ferromex.

As Paul mentioned, Ferromex is in part owned by UP RR as a minority partner. The above linked photo shows that virtually anyone's engines can show up almost anywhere and anytime on anyone's railroad. Power exchange is definitely a reality in this day and time.
Yesterday, in fact, there was a northbound BNSF grain worm (on the El Dorado Sub between Mulvane and Wichita) that had three units on the head end, two were Ferromex units, and they were spliced by a BNSF GE. Here in South Central Kansas they show up infrequently on the BNSF Transcon around the junction at Mulvane, and on the Ark City Sub (coming or going to Oklahoma and Texas.)
It's possible, but again, not really striking a chord of, 'Oh, that's it!' I do appreciate the info but I don't remember seeing any yellow across the front as in the one photo, nor the bold letters. Very interesting, at least for now...

You know, by golly, I think these just might be the ones! The location is right, for sure! Funny, I know this might sound odd, but I saw them at a much different angle, so I still can't say for sure but it's the closest ones so far.

Since you were near Erie they could have been new GE engines in primer paint out for testing before receivng finish coats of paint.
AH-HA!! THAT would explain why I don't remember any obvious markings. I suspected that earlier bc I saw a post some place of a pic that. It said something about being in GE colors before delivery. Thanks again!!
