Loco's on Rock Island in Iowa, late 50's early 60's ???

I am investigating some train action from my youth, particularly what was the locomotive consist on the Rock Island in northern Iowa during the late 50's, early 60's.  The location I am interested in is Garner Iowa on the Des Moines subdivison, Forest City branch...station number 55033 to be exact.  As best as I can recollect, the daily Garner switch job came up from Dows going thru granger country.  I imagine that the loco would have been an EMD SW1 or NW2.  All I can remember a black loco in the RI markings for the day, a slopped transition just before the cab,  but can not recall if 1 or 2 stacks.  Any help/suggestions would be appreciated to complete my search.

Do you have any books on Iowa railroads? I have a few of them and they are a wealth of information. You could also join the Iowa Interstate Yahoo group as some of them may also know the answer to your question.

I do have some volumes on railroading in Iowa, but no specific loco information was given.  I will now look in the Yahoo Groups.  Forgot about them...thanks for the suggestion!
