Warbonnet GP60M BNSF #125

This GP60M looks very good considering it's still in the pre-merger ATSF warbonnet and it's 20 years old.

Even with the slight graffiti behind the cab, it still looks much better than many of the pre-marger ATSF silverbonnet GEs that haven't been repainted in BNSF colors.  Especially the silverbonnet ATSF Dash 8s that mostly look pink and rusty.

This one must have been repainted shortly before the BNSF was added on the cab.  It is a great looking locomtive and a great catch to see it in 2010.   If you like the SF Warbonnets, check out the web site below for a few pictures of the red and silver in action.

I noticed a picture of a GP60M on Train Orders today and it has been modified with the old type control stand and is on its way to LA.  It was still in red and silver and really looked nice.  Several of the GP60M's have been retrofitted  and are now working in LA on local trains.  It is hard to imagine 3800 HP units working local but the EPA Tier whatever is in place and the GP60's and GP60M have found a home for now.

This is one of the last total set of Warbonnets that I captured on the main line.

Part of the reason that the GP60Ms have worn so much better than the GEs is that GE had a paint problem back in the 90s. The EMD products have held up much better all around.
