Hello guys,
I was looking to model 909, but the Model Railroader forum seems to have no idea, so I'll move up a level and ask you here.
What colors did this unit sport in this particular pattern? http://www.northeast.railfan.net/images/emd_test.jpg
If it would help, this would be smewhere in the mid fifties. I can find mention of an oarnge/white scheme similar to the GP30s, and I found the later scheme it wore prior to retiring to ET800, but not this one.

Tough to determine color from a B&W photo....scheme looks similar to the original FT demonstrator scheme
Never too old to have a happy childhood!

I know that! The picture was a reference only, I don't know if anyone knew of a book/website/etc. where it might have been recorded in. I can say that the "elecotro-motive division test car" has to be some kind of light color, maybe silver, not the black of the FT demos, and I think that that would also rule out the BL1/GP7. Also, I do know 909 was a modified F3, but it oesn't match the Peppermint demos for the F3, either.

I'd say it was red and maroon, a bit like the scheme on the prototype SD7 (there was a Proto 2000 model) about that time and similar in colour to the Alton and GM&O colours. There was an export prototype G12 in those colours and it can be found on Larry Russell's export GM website.
The orange and white scheme would be later, contemporary with the GP35 and DD35 in those colours, later adopted by Frisco.
