Saw the UP blue Salt Lake City Olympics units (2001 and 2002?) at a distance switching some auto racks in the West Chicago, IL yard on Monday. Missed them going by later.
I understand the units have been seen in the Chicago area recently.
You will have to talk to Carl Shaver about those locomotives. He has told me that those unit's have been hanging aroung the greater Chicago Area.

I've seen them several times at UP's little yard in Belvidere, IL. Recently, though, just the local GP15s have been there.

I was at Rochelle Il.this morning 5-24-09 and they came through west bound with a short stack train plus empty well cars.They must have gone to Global III because they came back east bound and light about a hour later. Pretty neat sight!
I was in Rochelle, IL on 5-6,7,8-09 and saw them pass through several times with short autoracks and short intermodels trains.
Was just around Rochelle, IL on Friday night, June 5 and the UP 2001/2002 went eastward on a stack train leading another couple of Armour Yellow locos about 6 PM. Others said they went west into Global 3 eariler in the day. So it seems that they are back running the shuttles between Global 3 and the Chicago-area facilities. Look for them between Chicago and Rochelle on the old C&NW main.
