UP stored locomotives at Seattle
Posted by electroscribe on Thursday, April 9, 2009 5:50 PM

Noticed a long line of stored UP locomotives at Van Asselt south of Seattle, including a number of original-format SD60Ms (with the three-piece windshield). Does anyone know how many are stored -- and what their likely outcome would be. Some of them looked pretty ragged.

I think this is something that is being seen on all railroads right now, a sad sign of the times.  I never liked the appearance of those three piece windshield units. But I would rather see them on the road than being stored.

I never got used to the tricloptic appearance of those units, either.  Keep in mind those things are now 20 years old, doesn't seem like it's been that long.

Yeah time does go fast.  The SD60s didn't seem to have the old cab for long, one of the first models to really bring the wide cab into existence if I recall.
