Santa Fe F7A 347C
Posted by Stevo3751 on Thursday, July 3, 2008 9:23 PM
I'm taking a trip to Sacramento later in July and I'm going to stop by the California State Railroad Museum. Anyone know if the Santa Fe F7 pair is in good condition as of July 2008? They are one of the reasons I'm going to check the museum out.

347C is exx 39C built 7/49 as an F7A. 347B is exx 35A built 1/49 as an F3B (F5B).

The A unit was reported operational as on last year on one of the Santa Fe email groups. Don't know about the cosmetic condition of the pair. Some of the other Santa Fe equipment at CSRM was reported to be in poor condition because of lack of funding to do anything with it.

Thanks for the heads up. Most of the old Santa Fe units owned by the museum are not even on display in the main facility. According to the museum website the F-units are being restored. The site maybe hasn't been updated in a while but they are usually kept outside the old roundhouse.
