I spotted what seemed like new engines behind the main engines of a train the other day in Columbus, Ohio. This was a Norfolk Southern train with the traditional black NS engines up front. Right behind the main engines were 3-5 engines that were similar to the main engines but had some differences. I think they were a little smaller than the standard engine. They appeared to be new and had engine numbers 100, 101, 103... It seemed like the roof over the cab was more rounded rather than squared off. Also, I saw 4 exhaust stacks on the roof of the middle of the engines. These exhaust stacks were the same size as a typical dozer stack and stuck up about a foot off the roof of the engine. They were all painted black in the traditional NS pattern.
I, obvously, still have a lot to learn about the different engines. Any ideas what these engines were? Thanks.

Thanks. Yes, I think you are right. I looked up pictures of them and they look the same.
