For those who are lamenting the passing of locomotives in Santa Fe's colors, one can always go to Long Beach and watch Pacific Harbor Line locomotives.

I've actually heard the whole story on this (I don't have permission to tell the whole story), and yeah, they sure didn't use Dupont. It's more complex then just the pigment though, and GE intended to go with Dupont. Needless to say, the mistake cost them a heck of a lot of money.

Actually that's an FP45 with the 20 Cylinder 3600HP 645 like the SD45. P, because it's longer and had Steam generators. Those had been removed by the time of that photo.
Personally, I've always been a fan of the early phase F3 with the taller fans.
Probably because I remember them from the miniature train rides of my youth.

Thank you for the correction! I made the changes... I really enjoy the classical warbonets.
Well 561 is a dog!! I ran it on the longmont RS the other day,we had to cut off the second unit so it could go to town to get its toilet dumped ( this only took a month of complaining to get done so I was impresed)So here this poor old girl was forced to switch the yard on a slight uphil grade.Notch 8 lead axle sand and manual sand wide open and I was getting 1 mphafter a few minutes 3 mph.Once she got to 7 mph I had to shut her down some as the 5 minutes was about to expire on the short time ratings.
The interior is just as bad as the exterior.But I did scare the bejezzus out of a golfer who was trying to tee off when I blew for a grade crossing.I thought he was seriously going to thorw his club at me.

Yes sir Yoho you are correct! But you gotta use what you got and for some reason they have kept 561 up there on the switcher.
I prefer old geeps,or even better 40-2's, I had to switch with a SD70ACe one evening. Not fun.

Up at New Fallbrook Yard near Oceanside Ca, they seem to have a trio with typically 8-40Bs, GP60Ms and GP30/35/39Ms around. The GEs have been showing up more and more though which I've found kind of odd.
On the old C&S out of Denver. 155 is now hooked up with 561 and the turn has two SD 60's I have been in Cheyenne since monday. Yesterday we did a Platte River coal train.today we are waiting for Maintenece in the Way to get out of the way so we can go!!!
And wouldnt you know it on a speed restricted train lol.
