SW 1200 and SW 1500
Posted by SW 1200 on Monday, March 24, 2008 11:47 PM

Are there any books that treat the subject of SW 1200 and SW 1500 type locomotives?

Looking for a good reference work and history.  Anything out there?

Diesel Locomotive Cyclopedia (out of print), contains most 1st and 2nd diesels.

I found the Yard Limit Reference page.  A lot of good stuff there.

 Also found the Diesel Data Series, but it only covers:

 GP49; SD24; GP15; BL12; SD45; FA-2;

 No SW locos; No S-1/S-6 series; No GP20, GP35, etc.

 Too Bad.

I believe the Diesel Spotters Guide Update book addresses the SW1200/1500.

Check out R. Craig Rutherford's Diesel Shop site at http://www.thedieselshop.us/ There is production data and dimensional data there.
