CP ES44AC's

Hello everyone. 

Does anyone know how the ES44AC's have been performing on the CP?  And if CP is happy with them?

I think they are BEAUTIFUL... but as with many a loco... beauty can be skin deep.

Well...if numbers are any indication they're very happy with them. They and the AC4400CW have become what the SD40-2 was from 1975 to 1995...pretty much ubiquitous throughout the system.

CP had some before I retired and I got to run several of them.

From my (engineer's) point of view they are a dream as compared to the older AC4400's. Unlike any GE I ever met which load up when and IF they feel like it, the ES44's respond right now when you make a throttle change. They are also quietest in the cab and good riders. 

Of course the best is (CP point of view) they get the same horsepower from fewer cylinders and are supposed to burn less fuel with  less pollution

GE has come a long way from the U-25B, it appears EMD is still enroute. I was a diehard EMD fan until I got a chance to run the B32's on a demo trip. At the end of that trip I had to give the GE factory rep a big apology (I gave him an earful on my views of GE's at the start of the trip), as I then knew that GE was going to win the war.  The GE guy just smiled, gave me an operators manual and said it was nice to be on the winning team.
