Field Guide to Modern Diesel Locomotives
Posted by gamcgee on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 11:33 AM

I've been using my Field Guide to Modern Diesel Locomotives by Greg McDonnell, Kalmbach Publishing 2002, quite a bit this year.  It's well worn and some pages are falling out. I went to the online Trains Products web site for books to check on a replacement, and it is not listed at this time that I can see.  Does anyone know if the second edition is due out anytime soon?  I hope so.

Growing up, I spent many hours studying The Diesel Spotter's Guide.  When I go trackside these days for rail photography, I usually study my Field Guide between trains.  I always take it with me.  I also use it a lot when I write captions for my photos, so an updated edition would be great for me.

I am looking forward to the Locomotive issue next month.

The 2d Ed. will likely come out right after they finally publish the Short Line Guide 5th Ed...
