Remote control locomotive?
Posted by TimChgo9 on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 12:11 AM

Saw this in a consist going through Joliet about 4 days ago, on the BNSF.

Is this a Remote Control loco being taken to it's new owner? Just wondering. Nice paint job, can't miss this one.  That's the other thing that made me think it's a remote control switcher for someone's plant, or even, railroad yard the yellow paint was quite visible..  Since it says RCLX on the side and "Relco" as well, I am assuming it is a leased unit.

It's definitely equipped for remote control.  The stack of lights above the cab on each side is the giveaway.  Most industrial locomotives equipped for remote control have these lights so the operator can be aware of the status of the unit he's operating.
The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

Thanks for the info.

I assumed that it was a Remote Control Locomotive, but I wasn't sure what I was looking at, so I thought I would post it and ask...
