I snapped these photos sometime between 1982 & 1990 in WA state. Was wondering if anyone could please tell me what type of engine this is and where it would have come from?
Thanks! Rob
Quite possibly Continental Grain Co. of Tacoma, Washington Whitcomb 70 Ton #11 and NW2 #104. The photo resolution is so poor I cannot make out details on the 2 stack EMD, but could read Continental Grain Co. fairly well on the centercab. Diesel data from Diesel Locomotive Rosters 3rd Edition.

Thank you, Ed. Once I knew what to look for (Whitcomb 70 ton), started searching and found the exact same loco with history: http://www.trainweb.org/westernrails/wa/index.html Always wondered if that was a common loco or not, as it was the only time I have ever saw one. I also remember on the same trip (coming from the other direction) all the smoke that belched from it and thinking the engineer must not be enjoying himself.
Thanks again! Rob
Definetly a GE-something-tonner.

Many of the Whitcomb diesels look almost identical to the GEs.
