As I recall, Jacobs Ladder track is on a low trestle and in the 30% grade range. I wonder how they ever evacuated the passengers safely.
Since it never made the statewide media (Manchester Union Leader and WMUR-TV) it was apparently a pretty minor incident.

The Conway (NH) Daily Sun reported it as a bearing failure.
On October 6th, 2018, the last train up Mt. Washington derailed on the return trip down at Jacob's Ladder. I heard it was a broken rail, others on the train said a wheel fell off. Does anyone know what really caused the problem? People on the train were stranded for hours while the staff and crew helped all the passengers to the station.
