You know, the Northern Pacific even had a "Great Big Baked Potato" song, sung to the tune of "The Old Oaken Bucket." I've been trying to find it, but so far, no luck.

During the Winter 'Season', the B&O would furlough Dining Car Crews - Steward's and cooks, down to waiters.  Those furloughed B&O dining car crews would then go to the ACL and SAL and staff their Dining Cars with their Winter Season snowbird rush, returning to the B&O in the Spring.

So what period is it being restored to? It can't be the twenties as the car has skirting and a montor roof.

5lbs 3oz, 111/2 inches long and 181/2 inches in girth! Wholly Mackinaw! 

luv the picture of the big potato on the roof. Now I know we lost too much. 

A person would willingly go through all the trouble and delays of flying when we could still have this going! Are you kidding me?

Amazing item, thanks so much. Would have made a great item for Classic Trains.

Lady Firestorm and I agree with you, our lives won't be complete until we sample a "Great Big Baked Potato."

I showed her a vintage photo of an NP dining car serving one.  She was MOST impressed!

Judging by my one trip on the Mainstreeter, NP food was great.  But many ACL and SAL trips indicated their food was great also, and the menu and crew should match the car itself.
