I’m trying to track down an old Trains article; I’d guess it was published in the 1980’s but I’m not certain. The article covered interesting locomotives that had been proposed but never built for US railways. One that I remember was Baldwin proposed copies of the Seaboard Air Line 2-6-6-4’s for the Minneapolis and St. Louis.
The other engine covered in the article that particularly interests me were streamlined duplex drive 4-4-4-4’s for the Atlantic Coast Line, also proposed by Baldwin. The article included an artist’s rendering of this locomotive.
I’ve tried the Trains index search engine and looking through the yearly indexes with no luck. If anyone can identify the issue I’m looking for, or direct me to an image of this proposed ACL engine, I’d really appreciate it.

I finally found it on my own with some further digging. My guestimated date was way off- it was the September 1975 issue. The article is titled "Proposed but Never Built". The cover misleadingly says "Diesels Dreamed of but Never Delivered" while the article covers steam, diesel, complete trains, and one train station.
