MidlandMike

The administrative staff at the D&S maybe also handled that work for the Mt Rainier.  After they laid off the Durango staff, maybe there was no one to handle Wash.

Perhaps Mt. Rainer was dispatched from the D&S office?

It comes at no surprise. American heritage is a for profit operation. It won't be saddled with money losing operations. It sad, but maybe another solution can be be arranged.

Was the Washington property in the black or the red.

If it was in the red and no longer has the Durango and Silverton to pump cash into the main corporate coffers, I undersand.  If it was in the black, I don't understand the conserving resources excuse, I also don't understand closing it until August - I guess June and July must not be prime tourist season in Washington.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

The fire covers 17,000+ acres and 2000+ people evacuated, including Purgatory/Durango Mtn Resort.
