For those interested, they hold classes on Saturdays in February where you learn to be a brakeman.  After a written test, you have to take student trips.  If the old heads deem you wise enough, you can mark-up and bid on jobs on regular runs.  

My personal favorite is the round trip to Metamora and back.  The layover in Metamora features multiple locations for food and shopping to make it more enjoyable for your better half.
