To quote what I said previously on Railway Preservation News:
"Klarr Locomotive Industries LLC a new group has just bought CVR 3014, an ex-DRGW GP30. They are bringing it to Utah with a goal of leasing it to the Broken Arrow salt plant in Flux (Grantsville Utah), while in the mean time preparing a permanent home for the GP30 in preservation. If possible the group is looking into also acquiring sister locomotive CVR 3004 for a similar purpose if fundraising can be made. This news was just broken on Utah Rail Enthusiasts on Facebook by Derrick Klarr, one of the leaders of the new group."
This is pretty cool news. Derrick Klarr is a former member of the Utah State Railroad Museum board and is still an active advisor for them. He is employeed by UTA, and those who have seen the Rio Grande Modeling Society's issue highlighting the restoration of the DRGW 5371's cab lighting knows the quality of work Derrick and his friends can do. The GP30 is a fan favorite in Utah, with many of the old DRGW fans constantly lamenting how we didn't have one in preservation in our state (although a GP30 is in storage at the Colorado Railroad Museum and another at the Nevada Southern near Vegas (UP 844); both were just far enough away they seem distant to us).To say us foamers in Utah are having a bit of an excited foam fest right now would be an understatement...
