There was a Stanley touring car on Ebay that was in Quebec. About a 1922. I wanted it, but sure couldn't afford it. One thing about steam cars, they're easier to park than a locomotive and you don't need a big garage. Look up Doble cars on the interwebs- as fascinating as the title of this website!

There's a number of videos on YouTube with gasolene engines converted to steam, I've even seen one with a new-built radial steam engine.  Interesting, but I'm not sure just what kind of practical use you could put the things to.

A radial steam engine, you say? Hmm. But have a look at Jay Leno's You Tube shows about his Dobles- fascinating stuff. I'd post a link but I don't know how with this new laptop.

This was one of the most famous demonstrators built, by Ted Pritchard in Australia.  V4 engine; conical high-pressure atomizing burner.  (I think it has been well described by the SACA people.)  If this car failed to convince any of the American major builders to invest in steam for pollution reduction, it's unlikely that other attempts (see the Besler Chevelle in the other thread) would.  Which is a shame, as Pritchard came as close to a contemporary modern flexible automobile as necessary.  I wish his family luck in continuing the work.

A radial steam engine, you say?

I suspect this is the (in)famous Cyclone powerplant, combining a radial 6-cylinder engine with a supercritical-steam generator.  Here is a popular presentation (starts at 0:38)

A couple of very familiar names in high-speed steam automobile engineering were developing a land-speed-record car to use this, ostensibly to take the record from Inspiration using a 'stock' motor.  I keep hoping it happens ... eventually.

Yes  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inspiration_(car)   land speed record.

Btw what was wrong with the  engine above? Could be used in railroad appilcations like a steam piston powerplant to a eletric generator
