I purchased it at a sale in Fremont Ohio any information is greatly appreciated.

nycstlrrThe triangle design, looks like some of the Big 4 signals left in my area. The backing doesn`t look the same though.
Looks like something of NYC - Big 4 heritage that was from a location that had clearance problems and the background panels were cut down.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
I know I have better photos but this was the quickest I could find. By the was. The tower is gone, used to be CREST Tower.......http://nycstlrr.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3508538
I am guessing a transit system signal. Something makes me think Chicago El or NYC subway.
GRS Type "G" Tri-Lights, most likely for a NYC turnout or turnout approach diverging route signal. Seems that both are missing visors.
GRS = General Railway Signal (Rochester, NY)
I can't clearly make out from the provided pictures whether the target is in fact cut away on the sides for clearance, or if the edges have been bashed on one or both sides in 'handling'.
Can the OP comment on this, or provide a couple of additional 'detail' shots that show the target sides more clearly?
Here is a page
with more information and pictures on tri-light signals. Some of the details here may be useful to the OP in determining what configuration he has.
