The Catskill Mountain Railroad Needs Our Help

Hi Everyone,
Since 1983, the volunteers of the Catskill Mountain RR have been running scenic excursion trains along the old Ulster & Delaware RR. As of today, the group operates over 2 segments of the line. One very scenic line is the portion between Phoenicia, NY and Cold Brook, NY. The other segment operates through the center of the City of Kingston, NY. For years, thousands of passengers have enjoyed scenic train rides, Santa Claus trips, and even Teddy Bear Picnic Trains. How many children have ridden one of these trains as their very first train ride?
Now, the Catskill Mountain RR needs our help. The railroad itself is owned by Ulster County, NY. The Catskill Mt volunteers maintain the tracks, operate the trains, etc, all with volunteer love and sweat. The railroad gets no government assistance. Money comes from passenger fares and contributions. The County of Ulster, NY has decided it would like to evict the Catskill Mt. RR operations, tear up the railroad for scrap, and turn the right-of-way into a hiking trail. The railroad brings visitors to the area. Many people have made a Santa train a family tradition. All of this may be lost. See how you can help by going to
