Just to be correct, the South Carolina Railroad Museum is in Winnsboro, SC (Fairfield County) and connects to the NS R Line. It/'s an old rock quary railroad about thirty miles north of Columbia. The #44 is proudly displayed next to the highway. They are an all volunteer group with little or no state funding.
44 is indeed back home after spending approx. a week and a half in Chadburn, NC. This is the only time the locomotive has been out of the state of South Carolina since it was built and released to the Hampton and Branchville in January, 1927. The South Carolina Railroad Museum has set up a team known as "Project 44" to raise funds to restore and operate the locomotive. When made operational, 44 would be the only steam locomotive operating is South Carolina. That would be fitting since the locomotive is a true native of South Carolina.
Here it is:

Should work!
I learned yesterday that 44 is back home. I was told that she appears in episode 5 of "Revolution", an NBC series that airs Monday at 10p. Episode 5 should air Oct. 15.
Don't see the link! ??

Not sure about the movie use are reported by OP, but here is a link to a PDF to a "Project 44". Which asks for donations to return H&B RR #44 to Operation at the South Carolina RR Museum in Columbia.
Apparently,it was actually used at the 1970 NHRS Convention in Charleston, SC. according to PDF.
H&B 44, a static displayed steamer, has temporarily left its' home at the South Carolina Railroad Museum and headed to Chadbourn, NC. It is to be used in the filming of an NBC production whose name escapes me. I was told this is the first time she's been out of the state since 1927.
