Thought I would share some of my photos of the UP 844 on its New Mexico/Arizona Centennial tour in Oct./Nov. 2011. I shot pictures of the special on its Phoenix, AZ to Yuma, AZ run as well as its return to Cajon Pass (first time in 22 years) and Afton Canyon. It was an excellent couple of weekends chasing UP steam, big thanks go out to the Union Pacific and the steam crew, was a great event.

Nice shooting!
An awesome group of photos, Ryan. It's a thrill to watch her at work.
I got to ride on the #844 steam special in NE fall of 2010 with a local RR group, and she also visited St. L on her trip over the winning Facebook route last summer. I did get to meet Ed Dickens, the engineer, when I was on the steam special.
I had not seen her since she visited St. L in 1990 for the NRHS convention and did a double header leaving town with my beloved Frisco #1522. That's a sight I'd like to see again, but #1522 is just on display now, not running any longer.
Thanks for sharing.
We were also lucky to have #3985 visit in fall of 2010, so I got to see both of the UP steamers. That is great that they have made the commitment to keep steam alive.
I chased UP 844 from Santa Rosa, NM to Carrizozo, NM on 5-Nov-2011. I took many photos and posted a few of them.

Thanks for commenting guys, and taking a look at the photos. It was an excellent outing and the 844 looked great, as always.
Sunnyland, I got to meet Ed Dickens in Phoenix while the 844 was on display. A very friendly gentleman for sure.
Thanks for the great pictures!!
