Yeah, a tape measure is a nifty device to find the length of a car or loco. find diameter of drive wheel, etc. Works real good.
The Big Boy was all cleaned up and painted. Looks like it just came out of the paint shop. Much of the stuff there was cleaned up very nice for the season.
Did a few videos and pictures of a CN steamer in the roundhouse. It was being readied for the days run. There is a walkway that passes inside that lets you walk right in front of the smoke box. Love the coal smoke. Los of steam and smoke as the loco backed out of the roundhouse.
A load of school kids nearby loved seeing the loco back onto the TT and then move off to couple up to the passenger cars.
When the loco whistle blows inside the roundhouse, it will make you jump even if you are ready.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
OK, found a place in Dunmore a short distance and Google has shown me all the directions so not a problem and I know Steamtown has good access.
Anyone need a specific picture? Nice to return some help back to the community. Might have to buy a tape measure. Steamtown was not in the itinerary when we left for our trip a few days ago.
Cheers

daveklepper I believe the old and monumental D&LW Railroad Station has been recycled into a hotel, and is very close to Steamtown. I don't know the name of the hotel, but you could Google Scranton on the web and find out pretty easily. I also don't know how expensive it is.

Thanks but $155 for one night. I will just use Google to look around. I know I can do better.
Hello All
Going to Steamtown May 5th to the 6th and looking for lodging nearby. Steamtown at their site says there are three hotels within walking distance but will not give the names. Yes, I know why.
Also, maybe a couple with a short driving distance as I know the streets are sort of complex. I was there four years ago but was with someone else.
Girlfriend had knee replacement in Feb and still using a cane to get around.
We have AARP and AAA cards.
Thanks.
