This may come out sounding like and advertisement but as many of you steam fans know the trestle four miles out of Chama, NM; on the C & TSRR burned recently.
In my humble opinion that trip from Chama to the top at Cumbres Pass is the best train ride in America. Two coal fired steamers muscling their way up the mountain. That's railroading!
The Friends of the C&TSRR are accepting donations to help cover the over $1 million cost of repair. I ask you to consider chipping in whatever you can. Possibly the states of Colorado & New Mexico, who own the line will assist but given these lean times that's no guarantee. To help go to:
