Ellwood Engineered Castings 6114B, a rare GE 70 ton centercab, has been donated to the Tod Engine Heritage Park in Youngstown, OH for preservation, and next Tuesday will be trucked from the EEC plant in Hubbard, OH to the Park. The 6114B was built in 1942 for the New York Central as unit no. 513. Its original purpose was to switch passenger cars in terminals, however by 1952 it and sister 512 were sold to Standard Slag Co. , becoming units 41 and 40. These two units worked at slag plants in Sharpsville, PA and Youngstown, OH until the early 1980s when they were sold to George Silcott. Silcott refurbished the locomotives and resold them to Valley Mould & Iron Co. in Hubbard, where they became 6114B and 6114A. 6114B, which originally began life shuffling heavyweight passenger cars, ended its career moving bottle cars full of molten iron.
I just got done preparing the 6114B for its trip next week. It will be moved on two trucks, the frame and cab on one and the trucks with the generator sets on another. Next spring the entire unit will be cleaned and repainted, engines refurbished and generally spruced up. At the Heritage Park approximately 250 feet of track will be laid to give the unit some place to run. I will post more photos here from the upcoming move.

6114A, or the remains thereof. I've been salvaging parts from this hulk that can be used in the 6114B's restoration. Unfortunately this unit suffered a major electrical compartment fire which sidelined it.
HI, These look good. Glad you're able to restore at least one of them. Hope to see them when they are done. Where exactly will they be seen/run? Thanks, John
