sunbeamNice shots. Is that an SP issued broom by the smokebox in the 1st picture?
Thanks. The brooms were on the locomotive the night before they left town. I did not find out what the meaning was to use the brooms as lower flags. Maybe someone knows what they mean and will tell us. I am sure some kind of humor is involved.

espeefoamer WOW! Looking at those pictures made my mouth water. I wish I still lived in Portland. I would have done some heavy chasing,or maybe taken a ride.

It was indeed a great day for the chase. I drove up from California, but it was worth the trip for sure. Many people have posted 4449 video's on Youtube.
The last photo shows the mars light not lit but it was on and moving. The bulb burned out between Camas and Maryhill.
Yeah just took a second look at your pictures, great sun angle she looks so great!!!
Dan The Man Nice pictures of 4449!!
Nice pictures of 4449!!
Thanks. It was great to get to see the locomotive running and the weather was excellent. \\ I hope they have a good trip both directions and make some money for the new facilities they need in Portland.
I watched it leave Spokane this morning. Sure does look good.
We drove up to Portland this week to catch the 4449 on its first day of the Trip to Trainfest. The replacement for the Mars light is interesting but not exactly like the original unit that was in the GS4's when they were new. This one has a green tint to it.
It was great seeing the 4449 again.
