4449

I see in Newswire that 4449 will be running excursions this weekend.  Why is this not bigger news?

Not a peep about this on the "official" 4449 Web site ... in fact, excursions there haven't been updated since, apparently, sometime in 2012.  (Guess the action's somewhere on Faceplant, where I will not be bothered to go.)

Can it be because some of the trips are for private organizations, and all concerned don't see any 'upside' in having fans out for the photo ops?

It is certainly a mystery.  I wonder if it is so that they don't get inundated with drones and chasers.  As you say, it might have something to do with the 'tone' of the excursion and who will be participating.

Seems a shame not to advertize that a steamer is working anywhere.

The excursion was part of the National Garden Railway Convention hosted by the Rose City Garden Railway Society.  The convention was advertised in Garden Railways magazine, model train club newsletters and anywhere else we could get in, and highlighted the opportunity to ride behind, or get a cab ride in, the 4449.  It was not intended to be a secret at all.

Than-you for helping us out, Steve.  Drop in more often...if you'd care to. Big Smile
