I went to high school about two blocks west of Pullman and have long been aware of the neighborhood's significance to the labor movement. It's good to see Metra doing its part to promote visits to the area.
The last time I walked on the streets of Chicago's South Side 3 miles South of the Loop about 20 years ago, the Chicago Police pulled their patrol car over and asked me what I was doing there. Maybe times have changed for the better and the presumptions based on profiling are a method of the past?

CSSHEGEWISCHYou're weak on your geography. Pullman is about 12-13 miles south of the Loop.
I'm sorry, where did I say I was near Pullman?
I think CSSHegewisch misread your post. As to CPD, they have not improved, although we have a new mayor, not from the machine (largely defunct) who promises to change things. Time will tell.
charlie hebdoAs to CPD, they have not improved,
Thats too bad. It was kind of insulting because what I read into the the question was they thought I was on the South Side for VICE because I was Caucasion. Oh well eventually they will be forced to change. Though I might mention here that if you ever go on a NYPD discussion forum and mention the name "Serpico" all hell breaks loose with some NYPD still referring to him as a "rat".
