Saw on Facebook that ATSF 2926 has been brought back to life under steam. No whistle yet, though. Personally,I would not be surprised to see it roll this weekend. Those of you who are closer to it than I am(I live in GA)could maybe update the events in NM.

Personally,I would not be surprised to see it roll this weekend.

I have to admit that I would be, since I understand the valves and pistons are not yet installed.  This test just fired the boiler, with the steam being used to blow out the passages (there is some colorful language on RyPN).

I do agree that it won't be long now.  We can take up the issue of where 2926 will run in the Amtrak ban era.

My biggest hope is that at least BNSF uses 2926 on occasion for Employee Appreciation Specials as we know they have done in the past with other units.

I am not 100% sure of all of these, but I seem to recall MILW 261, SP 4449, SP&S 700, and ATSF 3751 all have had the opportunity to pull Employee Appreciation Specials over the years.

We’ll keep our fingers crossed!

It won't go far without a whistle.

I'm sure they've got one laying around somewhere.

BNSF has not used live steam for an employee appreciation special since 4449 in the early 2000's.
