Over the past five years, the Blackhawk Railway Historical Society and the Will County Historical Society have been restoring the former Wabash Railroad depot from Symerton, Illinois to its late 19th century apperance.
The entire depot has been professionally painted - inside and outside - in its correct color schemes, 85 feet of track has been laid in front of the depot, using 65-pound rail, and a platform has been constructed between the depot and the tracks.

The Symerton depot is now located in the Will County Historical Society's Heritage Village on West 2nd Street in Lockport, Illinois. Visitors are always welcome.
