Believe the steam locomotive is undergoing some much needed TLC, but the train goes from Cedar Park to Burnet about 30 miles each way. I thought that line runs all the way to Llano, why not continue to there? Its a "tourist" town too, more so than Burnet. Was just curious.

There is information about this line on the public facebook group called Texas Railroad History.  You might have to scroll a ways to find it, but there is some interesting photos and stories.  Basically, the cost of maintaining the bridges west of Kingsland is prohibitive.  There is a speeder group that is keeping the line clear; search the internet for Railroad Partners for more info about them.

Remember the tin can; the MKT's central Texas branch...

Interesting. Road behind the steamer in 1995 but did not make it all the way to the town that had a shoot out event. A freight had tore up some track. Had to dive up to that town.

At the time, a winning ticket got to ride the loco back to town. A young girl had quite a ride.

I thought some years ago the patially empty tender was toppled by a tornado.
