preserved steam on Horseshoe curve 2017
Posted by Silver Fox 60017 on Thursday, March 30, 2017 5:02 PM

In one of our ( UK) railway mags, there was a small article about steam on Horsehoe curve this year. I think that a 2-6-6-2 loco recently restored to working order was to be used. Any information  on this?

The most famous Horseshoe Curve is on Norfolk Southern's main line in central Pennsylvania.

The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad is restoring a 2-6-6-2 in not-too-distant Cumberland, Md., but it will not have operating rights over NS lines. There is a famous location on this railroad known as Helmstetters Curve that may be what the story referenced.
