As part of its planned Chicago Day on July 16th, the East Troy Railroad Museum will unveil newly restored Chicago, South Shore & South Bend Car #33. The unveiling will take place at 9:45am at the East Troy Depot (2002 Church Street). Car 33 becomes the sixth operating South Shore car out of ten South Shore cars on the East Troy Railroad Museum's roster. Car 33 was donated to the railroad by the National Park Service via the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Park Rangers and interpreters will be aboard each train in East Troy tomorrow to provide additional history and education. Other South Shore cars operating tomorrow will be cars 9, 13, 24, 25 and 30. Cars 24 and 25 will be on the dinner train departing at 5:30pm (sold out).
There is a nice story about this online in the Lionel "Tracks" website: http://tracks.lionel.com/reviving-the-south-shore-railroad/
Hopefully someone will post a video of car #33.
