I don't quite know how I missed this before now ... but
Those who have heard the O. Winston Link 'original' will appreciate this even more.
I saw that that the other day. I only hope I live long enough to take one more ride....
I don't need motion or even the video, but the audio is so much to a "steam experience." I can stare off into darkness or light, but my mind will still create a compelling image of the brute looming out of the steam vented from the cylinder cocks, light shining brightly, and soon it is bearing down on me trackside. I feel the concussion from the shockwaves in the firebox as it moves past, valve gear swaying and rods making their slow cycloid motions.
Took the grandkids to the Forestry Discovery Centre in Cowichan on Vancouver Island for their Christmas Train ride a few days back. It was a wonderful experience.
Thanks, Overmod. A Merry Christmas to you, and may 2015 go your way.

That was one breathtaking Christmas card from the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society! That steam whistle sent shivers down my spine, the "voice of Eternity" is the best way I can describe it, and overlaid with the carillon playing "First Noel" the video was perfection itself.
Thanks so much for posting it Overmod, a belated Merry Christmas to you, and Happy New Year!
