Yesterday, WRIX 4404 former SP4404 an SD9E which was, as recently as Portola Railroad Days 2014, up at the Portola Museum, was in Roseville yard on the track behind Vernon st.
Anyone know where she was going? I know back in 2012, WPRRM put her up for sale and said if there were no buyer they would scrap her in place, but that clearly didn't happen and I can't find any information on what did happen.
She's not in Roseville, or at least not visible in Roseville anymore.
It was purchased by Western Rail. They are located near Spokane, WA. http://www.westernrailinc.com/
I suspect they will put it back in service. If they were going to scrap it for parts, they could have done that at Portola.
