Rats.

I'm flying to the left coast on the 16th.  I was hoping my timing was just right, but apparently not.

They should have never pulled the 4023 out of the roundhouse then they could
have had a big boy in house ready to tear down, no travel expenses

I loved your web cam.  Quick point...... set the cam and the front of the train...not and the rear.  Then we can see the train go by.  You when set by the tender all we see is the train going bye bye.

Saw both 4014s in Las Vegas today - big yellow 6-axle coupled to the big Alco's pilot beam.

Steam 4014 has had front end articulated steam plumbing dismounted (on the tender deck) and the piston rods and parts of the valve linkage removed.  Eccentric rods (drive the lubricators) and main rods still in place.  Insulation and sheathing had been removed and the boiler (and about a gazillion boltheads) painted black.  Looked like a glamour girl without makeup...

UP did an excellent job.  Lots of parking, and lots of well-behaved, happy railfans.  Also got to see the Trains photo crew.

Now, when will she come through under her own power?

She arrived in Salt Lake City yesterday, and is available until four p.m. for the public to view her.

Did the 4014 Big Boy use Cajon Pass for it's return trip?

Yes, the train came through Salt Lake City; I was unable to see it for I had too much to do at home. A friend of mine went, and gave me a sheet with a picture of her and various numbers on it.
