On Wednesday Nov 20, the Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso, Michigan presented the restored Pere Marquette 1225 locomotive. The first run, which included passengers, was made that evening after the press conference. There's still some cosmetic work to be done, but the rebuild which included an all new firebox, boiler inspection and flue replacement is essentially complete. The locomotive will be pulling the North Pole Express excursion runs this year. A video courtesy of the Mayor of Owoss is here:
