A couple of months back, I had posted an elderly video of the CPR's Angus Shops as they built a steam locomotive. To modern times it seems an arcane, but a fascinating process to build a steam engine from the ground up.
I found the following videos that featured the Katy Railroads Warden Backshop at Bellemead Texas; That is in the Waco, Tx. area.
The video features the recollections, and a photo essay of the rebuilding of the Steam Locomotive 408. It was involved in a head-on collision in South Texas.
The narrator is Mr. Tommy Evans,jr. The son of the Katy's Shop Superintendent in Parsons, Ks, Mr. Evans went to work at the Wardens Shops in 1944 as a Machinist apprentice.
The Videos show the complete rebuilding of the 408 and its return to service.

Thanks, samfp, for digging out these videos. I always appreciate seeing the "used to be."
