A day in the Gorge with STEAM featuring R&N #425

I took a day (and then the entire weekend) and spent it at the scenic Lehigh Gorge over the July 4th weekend and came back with several photographs to share. Subbing for the normal Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway diesel charter over the Holiday, R&N"s brought out it's blue Pacific along with a fleet of recently repainted blue passenger cars for a series of excursions over the former CNJ and Lehigh Valley lines through the Gorge near Jim Thorpe, PA.

Enjoy!

R&N #425 - Ready to start the show!

Looks like we got ourselves a new railfan!

 Full steam ahead!

R&N #425 and matching blue cars over the high bridge.

R&N #425 - deeper and deeper into the Gorge.

Sneak surprise - R&N #425 in freight PUSHER service!  Too bad the engineer was looking the other way - maybe he lost his bandana - yeah, that's it.

Thanks for looking!

Great fotos!  Too many steam fotos are not enough.  Thanks for the pick-me-up.

The engineer is looking back in the last photo because they're pulling the train in reverse. Note the position of the reverse quadrant. Plus the slant of the smoke.

Smile, it makes people wonder what you're up to. Chief of Sanitation; Clowntown
