Arcade and Attica #18 - Pic and link. Fall Foliage runs - 2 more weekends!

Following up on a previous post regarding the foliage in upstate NY, here's a 1/6th of a second pan of Arcade and Attica's 2-8-0 at speed showing off the peak of color from the Fall season.  This railroad is well worth the visit and with multiple runs Sat, Sunday and even Friday, you can chase a few and still find the time to ride.  Let's get out there and help support their investment.  Two weekends left and then you'll have to wait until the December outings.

Mitch,

Nice shot. Definately a good shot showing off the movement. The color saturation is a little over the top for my taste, though. Just a personal preference thing, I think.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Chris - I find that pans work best when there's a sense of excitement and clarity and the slight boost in saturation put it there.  In order to take the photo at 1/6th with my lens, I needed to use a neutral density filter which stopped down the exposure by 4.  The  filter leaves a bit of a dull cast at times so what you are seeing is the image brightened up a a stop or so and then a bit of saturation to keep it warm and colorful.

Nice work on your B&W's, btw.

As for big steam in WNY - might be a while as there is really nothing running or in the process of restoration in the area.  You're best bet is to keep an eye out for CP's #2816 when she runs from the Canadian West Coast to the East Coast, sometimes dipping into the US.  Ohio Central near Columbus would likely be your next best bet for larger steam in "the area".  NKP #765 used to visit the area but will likely stay put in IN, or for a spell, near Columbus, OH in the Summer.  Another possible long shot would be Reading and Northern's 4-8-4 #2102 should they decide to restore it in Reading, PA though the smaller Pacific #425 painted blue has been running this year.

Judging from the semi-open vestibule of the first coach in the photo, they are using ex-lackawanna Boonton Line commuter coaches.
