It's busy at Steamtown - catch both engines and some color!

Just got back from a trip to Scranton and was pleasently surprised to see both steam engines out and about.  CN 3254 was pulling excursions while CP 2317 (which recently derailed but remained upright) was seemingly in great shape pulling yard shuttles.

The colors are starting to peak - get up before it's all just a blur!

Speaking of blur - here's a pic of CN #3254 charging through the foliage in a unique pan called a zoom pan.  I did this to create - or should I accurately say, recreate the sense of speed that #3254 exhibits so well on it's runs to Tobyhanna.

Here is the schedule for Steamtown through the end of October, 2009.

Went today just to spend the day watching the two steamers play all day.

Was great to see both running. Was a fantastic beautiful day.

Two more weekends and thats it for excusions except the holiday runs.

*Sigh* to bad I couldn't spend every day watching them at play.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Thanks for that picture of 3254, Mitch, really wonderful and well done getting it onto Railpictures - not an easy task!  Those steamtown locos are some of my favourites and it must be getting close to perfection to see them in the fall colours.  How did you acheive that shot, did you use a tripod?

Really enjoyed that picture.  I, too, would like to know how your did that.

Took my son and one son-in-law up there a few years ago and would love to go again.  Sigh

I was in Steamtown on 10/23 and 10/24.  Took the Pacific on a yard excursion and the next day I rode the Mike to Tobyhanna.  The trip to Tobyhanna was marred by slanting rain but I got to smell a lot of coal smoke (especially when the coach door is open as you go through the tunnel!)
