CB&Q 4960 a few times in the early 1960's, believe her last trip here was in 1965
CB&Q 5632 her last public excursions for the Burlington were for the 50th anniversary of the opening of Union Station in October/November of 1964. She was painted gold for the occasion.
I believe that covers everything to date but if anyone knows of ones that I have missed please chime in!
To clarify a bit on the two previous posts, ex-Southern Pacific 745 (an Mk-5 class 2-8-2 built for the GH&SA and later assigned to the T&NO, both SP subsidiaries) visited Kansas City in 2006. It was on display at Union Station for some months, steamed to Liberty, MO and Kearney, MO, and pulled some short excursions IIRC on a WATCO-owned short line near Pittsburgh, KS. This locomotive is owned by the Louisiana Railway Heritage Trust, and leased to and operated by the Louisiana Steam Train Association.
There's a guy who calls himself Tiki Jackalope, who has a blog of sorts, and it featured a bunch of stuff on this, including many good pictures. And if I am permitted to mention it, the 2007 LASTA calendar has seven or eight pictures from the KC area, and I think is still available, now $5.
