SNCF 241P trips
Posted by chmoore on Monday, July 30, 2007 8:27 PM

In Don Phillips column a month or so ago, I saw a reference to some fall fan trips with SNCF 241P17.  These were supposed to be German or Brit style (as opposed to French).

Can anyone tell me some facts or provide a contact?

Thanks

What do you mean exactly? At least the locomotive type 241P is an entirely French design.

Mr. Phillips mentioned that there was a fan trip planned this fall that follows the German/British/US format where they had photo stops, run-bys etc.  Any info?

I know the design as I spent two years chasing round France trying to photogaraph them with only limited success.  At that time, there was a mid morninig departure from Vierzon to Clermont-Ferand which was my usual target.

Thanks

AFAIK, there is only one 241P  available for rail-tours.  At least two other locomotives are preserved, but  only for stationary use.
