Looking for Back issue. April of 1988
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, July 28, 2005 11:47 AM
I would like to confirm that my father-in-law is a feature story in this issue. My wife would like a copy and so would his other children. Story was written by Ken Hojnacki. Father-in-law's name is Winfred Michaels and its about his crew repairing lines. Thanks for your help.

A search of the Index of Magazines above came up with two entries for Hojnacki, one in Model Railroader and one in Trains - the Trains one:

Memory making 101
Trains, April 1988 page 38
spending time with Erie Lackawanna crews during college
( EL, "HOJNACKI, KENNETH L.", RAILROADER, TRN )

The index doesn't say anything more about the story.

Copies can be ordered from http://www.railpub.com./ among others used magazine dealers..
Also Kalmbach has some http://store.yahoo.net/kalmbachcatalog/railroading-trains-magazine-back-issues.html they cost more but they are probably new.
Enjoy
Paul

I just happened to find this entry on the forum and don't know if you still get notices.  If you want to contact me offline, I would be happy to talk with you further.  I tried to contact Mike and I got an address in Texas, I believe, from a contact in Oswego.  I sent him a copy of the magazine at the time it came out but never heard back so was unsure whether he ever received it.  I'm not sure I have another copy of the magazine but could certainly copy it and maybe send you some actual prints from the article and others that weren't published.

Ken:

That was a great article and photos.  Isnt it amazing how much "access" young fans had back then?  Look how much things have changed in the years since you were there.
