Hey everyone,

I have found conflicting heritage data for MRL 377.

some sources (such as this thread) say 377 was originally Atlantic Coast Line 1031:

377...BLT 12-66...S# 31847...ACL 1031...SCL 2007...SBD 8907...CSX 8907...
....VMV 8907...MRL 8907...IMRL 8907...MRL 377

Other sources:

http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/locoPicture.aspx?id=31378

say 377 was originally Penn Central 6235.

I have looked at photos of PC 6235 and ACL 1031, and compared them to MRL 377, and its hard to see any major differences that stand out..except for the nose headlight.

ACL 1031 had a nose headlight, PC 6235 did not, and MRL 377 did not..that tends to support the PC origin theory, but its not conclusive because headlights can be easily filled-in and sheetmetal changed.

another difference..ACL 1031 has the older oval EMD builders plate, PC 6235 has the square builders plate..I cant find a photo of MRL 377 that shows a plate! (plates probably stolen! :(

anyone have anything definate?

thanks,

Scot

Hi Scot,

Thanks for the input.

This site (34277) says PC 6235 became CR 6235 and then C&NW 6562, and then to EMD 8-86.

On page 10 of X2200 South, #85 J.A.S 86, C&NW 6562 is listed still in Conrail blue as being traded into EMD on a SD60 order, and went from Oelwein to St. Louis Auto Shredder (Pielet).

Have you seen a second source that conflicts with 377 being the ACL engine ?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE June 5, 07- The MRL Yahoo Group reported 375, 8924 and 8925 sold to the Northern Illinois & Wisconsin Railway Corporation.

July 2007- (From the MRL Yahoo Group)
358, 359, 364, 365, 1701 and 8905 to Progress Rail.

August 2007- (From the MRL Yahoo Group)
342, 343, 344, 350, 352, 353, 354, 361, 371, 1744 and 8941 to Progress Rail

June 2008- (From the MRL Yahoo Group)
106, 108, 112, 121, 128, 135 sold to SRY

Thanks Dale,

No, I have never seen another source for the "PC theory"..just that rrpicturerarchives data. But there are multiple sources that support the ACL engine being 377..and now a source that says the PC engine was scrapped...so..I think its safe to say the PC info is simply wrong! looks like the ACL data is pretty well supported.

ok, thanks then..I will sadly remove PC 6235 from the survivors list..and I will see if I can correct the info on rrpicturearchives.

thanks,

Scot
